Initiatives

  • COP26 Health Programme COP26 health initiatives on climate resilient and low carbon, sustainable health systems - Glasgow Climate Pact
  • Paris Agreement is a legally binding international treaty on climate change. It was adopted by 196 Parties at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris, France, on 12 December 2015. It entered into force on 4 November 2016.
  • Race to Zero is a global campaign to rally leadership and support from businesses, cities, regions, investors for a healthy, resilient, zero carbon recovery that prevents future threats, creates decent jobs, and unlocks inclusive, sustainable growth
  • Sustainable Development Goals (UN) are a call for action by all countries – poor, rich and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the planet.

Standards

  • GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard provides requirements and guidance for companies and other organizations preparing a corporate-level GHG emissions inventory. The standard covers the accounting and reporting of seven greenhouse gases covered by the Kyoto Protocol – carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PCFs), sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) and nitrogen trifluoride (NF3). It was updated in 2015 with the Scope 2 Guidance, which allows companies to credibly measure and report emissions from purchased or acquired electricity, steam, heat, and cooling.

Institutions

  • Clean Energy Ministerial(CEM) is a global forum to share best practices and promote policies and programs that encourage and facilitate the transition to a global clean energy economy. CEM initiatives help reduce emissions, improve energy security, provide energy access, and sustain economic growth.
  • Greenhouse Gas Protocol provides standards, guidance, tools and training for business and government to measure and manage climate-warming emissions.
  • Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the leading world body for the assessment of climate change. It was established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 1988 to provide the world with a clear scientific view on the current state of knowledge in climate change and its potential environmental and socio-economic impacts.
  • International Energy Agency (IEA): "We provide authoritative analysis, data, policy recommendations and solutions to ensure energy security and help the world transition to clean energy"
  • International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is a lead global intergovernmental agency for energy transformation that serves as the principal platform for international cooperation, supports countries in their energy transitions, and provides state-of-the-art data and analyses on technology, innovation, policy, finance and investment.
  • RELX Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Resource Centre is a dedicated signatory of the UN Global Compact which uses the SDGs to chart business participation in achieving these aims.
  • United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global voice on the environment. It provides leadership and encourages partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.
